Zaheer on track to play Boxing Day Test against Australia: Fletcher

Indian fast bowler Zaheer Khan is on track to make his comeback from injury in the upcoming four-Test series against Australia, coach Duncan Fletcher said today.
Zaheer had an ankle surgery after being ruled out of the recent tour of England and returned to competitive cricket only two weeks ago.
He has already played two Ranji Trophy games for Mumbai - against Orissa, in which he sent down 22 overs, and against Saurashtra, in which he sent down 21 overs.
"From the report that I have got back, Zaheer has attended nets in Mumbai. He put in a small spell there and looked impressive. I think it is very important that he looked in a very good condition than what we saw when he came to England," Fletcher said while addressing a press conference along with captain M.S. Dhoni in Chennai.
"He has got through there in two games, which I think is ideal preparation because we don't want to rush him too quickly. The three-day game in Australia is going to be very important, if he gets through that it will be ideal build up for him going into that first Test," he added.
The first Test of the series starts in Melbourne on December 26.
The remaining Tests will be played in Sydney, Perth and Adelaide. The Tests will be followed by two Twenty20 internationals, before Sri Lanka join in for a one-day tri-series from February 5.
